Identification of Unregistered Establishments and Enforcement

 

  • Controller DTS has constituted three dedicated survey teams to identify non-registered hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, and tourist guides within their assigned jurisdictions.
  • The Deputy Controller is actively supervising and monitoring progress to ensure a comprehensive, accurate, and efficient survey.
  • This initiative aims to strengthen regulatory enforcement and bring unregistered entities under the legal framework.
  • More than 700 un-registered / un-licenced establishments (Hotels, Restaurants and  Travel Agencies) have been identified in ICT.
  • DTS has opened files and issued notices to the un-registered establishments in ICT which approximately 80-establishments have been registered till to date.

            Progress and Impact of the Survey

  • The survey teams have identified over 700 unregistered / unlicensed establishments across Islamabad, and the verification process is still ongoing, DTS has opened files and issued notices to the un-registered establishments in ICT which approximately 110-establishments has been registered till to date.
  • The Department has begun enforcement actions by issuing notices and documenting all unregistered entities.
  • Bringing these establishments into the licensing system is expected to:
    • Increase government revenue
    • Expand the regulated tourism sector
    • Enhance service quality, compliance, and consumer protection
  • The initiative is a major step toward improving transparency and strengthening the overall tourism regulatory environment.
