Identification of Unregistered Establishments and Enforcement
- Controller DTS has constituted three dedicated survey teams to identify non-registered hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, and tourist guides within their assigned jurisdictions.
- The Deputy Controller is actively supervising and monitoring progress to ensure a comprehensive, accurate, and efficient survey.
- This initiative aims to strengthen regulatory enforcement and bring unregistered entities under the legal framework.
- More than 700 un-registered / un-licenced establishments (Hotels, Restaurants and Travel Agencies) have been identified in ICT.
- DTS has opened files and issued notices to the un-registered establishments in ICT which approximately 80-establishments have been registered till to date.
Progress and Impact of the Survey
- The survey teams have identified over 700 unregistered / unlicensed establishments across Islamabad, and the verification process is still ongoing, DTS has opened files and issued notices to the un-registered establishments in ICT which approximately 110-establishments has been registered till to date.
- The Department has begun enforcement actions by issuing notices and documenting all unregistered entities.
- Bringing these establishments into the licensing system is expected to:
- Increase government revenue
- Expand the regulated tourism sector
- Enhance service quality, compliance, and consumer protection
- The initiative is a major step toward improving transparency and strengthening the overall tourism regulatory environment.
